Good enough to begin

There’s a voice that can make almost any new idea sound foolish:

You’re not good enough.

I know that voice. Maybe you do, too. It can sound like a judgement, but often it’s fear trying to spare us the discomfort of being a beginner. If we never try, we never have to fail. We also never find out what we might become.

We can spend so long comparing ourselves with other people that no achievement feels like enough. But being “good enough” isn’t a claim that you’ve finished growing. It’s permission to begin before you feel ready.

You don’t need to be the best writer to write a first post, or a brilliant singer to sing. You need to start, learn, and keep going.

The beliefs we hold about ourselves can become boundaries or invitations to grow. And when you measure progress by your own values, rather than someone else’s scoreboard, you’re building an inner scorecard.

You have to create. Don’t wait to feel ready. Write the first paragraph. Sing like there’s no tomorrow. Dance like nobody is watching.

The world needs people who try.

You’re good enough to begin. Begin today.

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and then go and do that, because what the world needs is people that have come alive.”

— Howard Thurman
