Privacy Policy

This is a personal website written and maintained by Olle Lindholm.

I believe the open web should be private by default. This page explains what little information is collected when you visit, why, and how it is handled.

In brief

Zero cookies: This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies.
Zero third-party trackers: There is no Google Analytics, Meta pixel, or tracking scripts running in the background.
Local fonts: All typography renders directly from your device’s system fonts. No font provider logs your IP address.
No data selling: I never sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties.

What is collected and stored

1. Color theme preference

If you switch between light and dark mode using the toggle in the header, that choice is stored in your browser’s local storage (theme = "dark" or "light"). It contains no personal identifiers and never leaves your computer or phone.

2. Search

The search bar on the /blog/ page runs entirely in your browser's memory. Anything you type is used only to filter the list on your screen; nothing is recorded or sent over the internet.

If you choose to enter your email address into the footer signup form:

Your email is submitted directly to Kit (Kit.com), my email newsletter provider, solely to send you new essays and updates.
I do not load Kit's tracking JavaScript onto this site. Their servers are contacted only when you actively submit the form.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email I send.

4. Web server logs

This site is hosted on Bear Blog. Like any web server, Bear records standard, aggregated server logs (such as page views and general referrers) to keep the service running reliably. Bear Blog does not use cookies and does not track personal data across websites.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data I hold about you (essentially, your email address if you subscribed).
