Happy graduation
I have graduated from the psychology program. I can't believe it's been five years.
The graduation ceremony took place inside the majestic hall of Aula Medica, a glass-covered building in the outskirts of Stockholm, most known for its Nobel Prize lectures.
We walked up in alphabetical order and accepted our letter from the president. To her credit, she shook hands with everyone. We even had a person who called out our names on the stage.1 Thank you Hugo for making us feel seen at the ceremony!
The whole auditorium echoed with hurrahs from loved ones. A reminder that people need people to flourish.
I saw my parents in the crowd. My dad had brought his camera and he snapped photos at every chance he got. He looked so proud and happy, I got teary-eyed thinking about what this accomplishment meant for him and mum.
Hope filled the room as optimism spread across people's faces. Glimpses of love and pride radiated from their eyes. It was both beautiful and rare to see. Something I will never forget.
To top it off, each class got a fanfare. It was the most magical moment, to see everyone in the audience stand up and applaud at our accomplishment. Thank you Jakob Gudmundsson for all the fanfares! (Also, what a cool job!)
Graduations matter. Unfortunately, these milestones are often overlooked as we hurry on to the next thing. Remember to savour the moment and celebrate life. Blink and the moment is gone. Make the most of it!
This was the end of a chapter in my life, but also the beginning of a new one. I'm so excited about what comes next.
Compared to this dreadful ceremony where AI was used to read student's names.↩
